First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests a new approach for people with end-stage heart failure and permanent atrial fibrillation who are waiting for a heart transplant or a heart pump. Participants will receive a special pacemaker and a procedure to calm the heart's electrical signals, along with an implantable defibrillator (ICD). The goal is to see if this combination reduces the risk of death, need for urgent transplant, or hospitalization over one year compared to an ICD alone.
