Syringe vs. pen: which delivers the drug better?
NCT ID NCT07413913
First seen Feb 19, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a pre-filled syringe and a pre-filled pen deliver the same amount of survodutide into the body. Fifty-six healthy or overweight adults received a single dose of each version in random order. Researchers measured drug levels in the blood to see if the two methods are equivalent.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Survodutide (BI 456906)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could confirm that the pre-filled pen delivers the drug as effectively as the syringe, making it easier for patients to use.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study focused on drug absorption, not on weight loss or health outcomes. It does not test whether survodutide works for obesity.
