First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two types of stitches used to close wounds after abdominal surgery: one coated with an antibacterial substance and a standard uncoated one. About 3,000 adults having emergency or planned abdominal surgery will take part. The goal is to see if the coated stitch leads to fewer surgical site infections.
