Crisis counselors reach out weekly to prevent suicide after ER discharge
NCT ID NCT05825820
Summary
This study tests whether weekly check-in calls or texts from trained crisis counselors can help prevent suicide attempts in people recently discharged from the emergency room for suicidal thoughts. For 12 weeks, participants receive weekly supportive conversations where counselors discuss coping skills and mental health care plans. The research aims to see if this outreach program is practical, acceptable to patients, and can be consistently delivered by community crisis organizations.
