Timing matters: new study looks at speed of blood thinner in severe lung clots

NCT ID NCT06912009

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at how fast patients in the intensive care unit with a serious lung clot (pulmonary embolism) receive effective blood-thinning medication. Researchers will review data from 100 adults treated between 2014 and 2023 to see how quickly their blood reached a therapeutic level and whether that timing affects survival, clot recurrence, or bleeding. The goal is to improve treatment practices for these critically ill patients.
