New stenting strategy could boost stroke recovery when standard clot removal fails

NCT ID NCT06472336

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether placing a small tube (stent) in a hardened brain artery during a stroke helps patients recover better than continuing standard clot removal methods. About 500 adults with severe stroke due to a blocked large artery will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal is to see if stenting leads to less disability and better daily function.
