Could arm and leg cuffs save brain cells during a stroke? new study aims to find out.
NCT ID NCT06911385
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests a new, drug-free treatment for people having an ischemic stroke (a clot blocking blood flow to the brain). The approach uses two devices: a blood pressure cuff on the arm that briefly restricts blood flow, and inflatable leg sleeves that pump blood upward. The goal is to increase blood flow to the brain and buy time until standard clot-removal treatments can be given. The study will include 150 adults with stroke symptoms and will first check if the treatment is practical and comfortable.
