Can a 'Stress Boost' pill fight debilitating fatigue?
NCT ID NCT05435781
Summary
This study is testing whether giving patients with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) or giant cell arteritis (GCA) an extra dose of the hormone hydrocortisone during stressful times can improve their quality of life, especially by reducing fatigue. All 250 participants are already taking a low daily dose of prednisolone and will be randomly assigned to receive either the extra hydrocortisone or a placebo pill during periods of physical or mental stress. The main goal is to see if this extra support helps people feel less tired and manage their daily lives better.
