Brain training tested to keep seniors independent despite memory loss
NCT ID NCT03913637
Summary
This study tested whether a non-drug coaching method called Strategy Training could help older adults with mild cognitive impairment maintain their ability to perform daily tasks like shopping, managing medications, and paying bills. Researchers compared Strategy Training against standard care in 105 older adults to see if it slowed the progression of disability. The goal was to help people stay engaged in meaningful activities for as long as possible despite underlying memory changes.
