Major trial tests common steroid as lifesaver for severe lung infections
NCT ID NCT07199192
Summary
This large study aims to determine if a common steroid medication (prednisolone) helps hospitalized adults with severe breathing infections and low oxygen levels. Researchers will compare giving the steroid for 7 days against not giving it, tracking whether it reduces deaths, shortens hospital stays, or decreases the need for breathing machines. The trial will enroll 3,000 participants across multiple hospitals to gather strong evidence about this treatment approach.
