Could a common steroid boost recovery after major stroke?
NCT ID NCT07141303
Summary
This large study is testing whether adding a steroid medication (methylprednisolone) immediately after successful removal of a major brain clot can improve recovery from stroke. The trial will involve 1,060 patients who have had a major stroke and successful clot removal surgery. Half will receive the steroid treatment, while the other half receives a placebo, to see if the steroid reduces brain swelling and helps patients regain more function.
