New strategy aims to get patients off harmful steroids faster
NCT ID NCT05636501
Summary
This study compares two approaches to reducing steroid medication in people newly diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). It tests whether a structured, nurse-led tapering plan helps more patients stop steroids completely within one year compared to standard care from their regular doctor. The goal is to control the disease while minimizing the serious side effects of long-term steroid use.
