Summary
This study tested whether a steroid injection into the thumb joint can reduce pain and improve function in people with thumb arthritis. 61 adults with thumb arthritis received either a steroid shot or a placebo (saline) shot, both with numbing medicine. Researchers measured pain and hand function over 6 months to see if the steroid provided meaningful relief.
