First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting steroids directly into spinal discs can reduce chronic lower back pain in people with a specific type of disc inflammation (Modic I). 137 adults with persistent pain for at least 3 months received either a steroid injection or a placebo. The main goal was to see if pain levels dropped below a certain threshold after 1 month, with follow-up at 12 months.
