Could a lighter dialysis schedule improve life for kidney patients?
NCT ID NCT06642597
First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether starting peritoneal dialysis (a home-based treatment for kidney failure) at a lower dose and gradually increasing it can improve patients' quality of life compared to the standard full-dose schedule. About 224 adults new to dialysis will be randomly assigned to one of two approaches. The goal is to see if a gentler start reduces symptom burden while still keeping patients healthy.
