Tiny tubes, big difference: study seeks best stent for stone patients

NCT ID NCT06083051

First seen Jun 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026

Summary

This study compares four different ureteral stents (small tubes placed in the ureter) to find which one causes the fewest symptoms after laser surgery for kidney stones. About 272 adults who need a stent after stone removal will be randomly assigned to one of four stent types. Researchers will track symptoms like pain, urinary issues, and quality of life for up to 10 weeks to see which stent is most comfortable.
