First human test: can stem cells repair damaged spinal cords?
NCT ID NCT06976229
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing whether injecting lab-grown nerve cells into the spinal fluid is safe for people with recent spinal cord injuries. Researchers will enroll 12 participants who were injured 2 to 8 weeks ago to monitor for side effects and see if there are early signs of improved movement or sensation. The study focuses on safety first, using cells derived from stem cells that are donated rather than coming from the patient.
