Stem cells offer hope for untreatable hoarseness
NCT ID NCT04290182
First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested a new treatment for people with severe, long-term hoarseness or voice loss due to scarring on the vocal folds. Nine adults received an injection of their own stem cells directly into the scarred area during surgery. The goal was to see if the treatment is safe and if it can improve voice function, offering a potential option for those who have not been helped by other therapies.
