First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a new treatment for people with severe, long-term hoarseness or voice loss caused by vocal fold scarring, which currently has no lasting cure. Nine adults received an injection of their own stem cells into the scarred vocal folds during surgery. The goal was to see if the treatment is safe and can improve voice function over one year.
