Cord blood stem cells aim to reverse stroke damage in new trial

NCT ID NCT06129175

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single infusion of stem cells from donated umbilical cord blood (Neuroncell-EX) can help people recover better after a moderate to severe stroke. About 80 adults who had a stroke within the past 4 weeks and cannot receive standard clot-busting drugs will be randomly assigned to get the stem cells or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the treatment improves daily living skills and reduces disability over one year.
