Could your own fat cells fix your knee pain?
NCT ID NCT02838069
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether a single injection of stem cells taken from a patient's own belly fat could help with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis that hasn't improved with other treatments. About 100 adults received either a low dose, a high dose, or a placebo injection. The main goal was to see if the stem cells could reduce pain and improve knee function after 6 months, with follow-up MRIs at 1 and 2 years.
