Lab-Grown heart cells transplanted into failing hearts in landmark trial
NCT ID NCT04945018
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 41 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether injecting lab-grown heart muscle cells (made from stem cells) into the hearts of 10 people with severe heart failure is safe and can improve heart function. Participants have heart failure caused by blocked arteries and are monitored for 26 weeks after the transplant. The goal is to see if the new cells can help the heart pump better, but this is not a cure and ongoing heart failure management is still needed.
