First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether statins, a common cholesterol-lowering drug, can prevent strictures (narrowing of the intestine) in adults with Crohn's disease. About 20 people who need surgery for strictures will take either statins or a placebo daily for 6-12 months. Researchers will check for stricture formation using a colonoscopy and track symptoms through questionnaires and monthly check-ins.
