Cheap statin could slash deadly clot risk in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07303816

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking rosuvastatin (a statin) daily for one year can safely prevent life-threatening blood clots in people with cancer. About 4,000 adults with newly diagnosed or relapsed cancer who are at high risk for clots will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to find a safer way to prevent clots without the bleeding risks of standard blood thinners.
