Scientists test space gym to fight astronaut muscle wasting

NCT ID NCT06631053

Summary

This study aims to understand if a special flywheel exercise machine can help prevent muscle and strength loss caused by not using a limb, similar to what astronauts experience in space. Researchers will have 16 healthy, active volunteers wear a special shoe and use crutches for 30 days to unload one leg, with half of them also doing the special exercises. The goal is to gather detailed information on how muscles, strength, balance, and fitness change.
