Scientists simulate space to stop Astronauts' muscles from wasting away
NCT ID NCT06631053
Summary
This study aims to understand if a special flywheel exercise machine can help prevent muscle and strength loss that happens when people don't use their legs, similar to what astronauts experience in space. Researchers will have 16 healthy, active participants wear a special shoe and use crutches for 30 days to unload one leg, while half of them also use the exercise machine. The goal is to gather detailed information on how muscles, strength, and balance change, to help design better exercise programs for spaceflight.
