Could a common drug ease jaw pain? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07487675

First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding the medication sodium valproate to a standard jaw-washing procedure (arthrocentesis) can lower inflammation and pain in people with a clicking or painful jaw joint. Ten women aged 17 to 35 with this condition will have their joint fluid tested before and after treatment to measure changes in an inflammatory protein called IL-6. The goal is to see if the drug helps the joint heal better than the procedure alone.
