Can a pinch of salt boost growth in tiniest babies?

NCT ID NCT07562997

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving extra sodium (based on blood and urine tests) helps very preterm infants grow better than standard milk fortification alone. About 150 babies born between 24 and 31 weeks will be enrolled from three hospitals. Researchers will measure muscle and fat using ultrasound and a body composition machine to see which approach works best.
