This study looked at whether taking sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) before exercise helps well-trained cyclists perform better during a long, intense ride. Nineteen athletes did two lab sessions: one with the supplement and one with a placebo. Researchers measured their time trial results and how their bodies responded, like heart rate and muscle fatigue. The goal is to see if this simple supplement can delay fatigue and improve endurance in competition-like conditions.
