New program helps dementia patients stay in charge of daily life

NCT ID NCT07347639

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a support program for people with dementia living at home. The program trained nurses to focus on what the person can still do and involved family caregivers in conversations about daily choices. 12 people with dementia, 14 caregivers, and 33 nurses took part. While many felt it helped maintain personal choice, it was hard to schedule and did not clearly improve quality of life, though some behavior problems became less frequent.
