First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests a program that combines brief advice, nicotine replacement therapy (like patches or gum), and text-message support to help smoking parents quit. The goal is to reduce children's exposure to secondhand smoke. About 1,200 smoking parents in Hong Kong who live with children aged 12 or under will participate. The program's success will be measured by whether participants can stay smoke-free, confirmed by breath and saliva tests.
