Summary
This study tested four different methods to encourage adult smokers who weren't ready to quit to try smoking cessation treatments. The methods included small financial rewards, personalized mail or messages, phone calls from a tobacco care manager, and free counseling with nicotine patches or medication. The goal was to see which methods helped more people start treatment and eventually quit smoking over two years.
