Bone surgery could save limbs in diabetic patients

Summary

This study tests a surgery called transverse tibial bone transport to help heal chronic diabetic foot ulcers. The procedure aims to grow new blood vessels in the leg, improving wound healing and preventing amputation. About 100 adults with hard-to-heal ulcers will be enrolled. The main goal is to see if the surgery helps wounds close completely within 18 weeks.
