Shinbone surgery could save limbs in diabetic patients
NCT ID NCT07444593
First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests a surgery called transverse tibial transport for people with hard-to-heal diabetic foot ulcers. The procedure moves a small piece of shinbone to improve blood flow and help wounds close. About 100 adults with chronic ulcers will be split into two groups: one gets the surgery plus standard wound care, the other gets standard care alone. The main goal is to see if the surgery leads to more ulcers fully healing within 18 weeks.
