First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a smartphone app to standard dietitian visits helps people prepare for bariatric surgery. Forty adults who were candidates for surgery were split into two groups: one got the app plus usual care, the other only usual care. Researchers measured changes in nutrition knowledge, weight, body composition, and other health factors before surgery and for up to two years after.
