New drug combo aims to quiet sleep apnea breathing pauses

Summary
This study tests three drugs—sivopixant, acetazolamide, and SASS-001—to see if they can reduce the number of breathing pauses (apneas) in adults with sleep apnea that involves a central component. About 60 participants with stable heart failure or persistent atrial fibrillation will receive one of the drugs or a placebo. The main goal is to measure improvement in the apnea-hypopnea index during sleep.
