First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested a program called SLAC that helps Veterans who drink heavily and have mental health issues like PTSD or depression get connected to alcohol care. 140 Veterans from VA primary care took part, and half received the SLAC program plus usual care, while the other half received usual care alone. The goal was to see if the program is practical and acceptable, and whether it helps Veterans start alcohol treatment or reduce drinking.
