Cuddle power: Skin-to-Skin after C-Section may calm Baby's heart
NCT ID NCT07109076
First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether holding a newborn skin-to-skin right after a planned C-section helps both baby and mother feel less stressed. Researchers will measure heart rate variability, a sign of how well the nervous system is adapting. About 80 full-term newborns and their mothers will take part, with half getting immediate skin-to-skin contact and half receiving standard care. The goal is to see if early contact leads to healthier heart rhythm patterns in the first day of life.
