First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests an experimental drug called SIL-8301 (senicapoc) in people with sickle cell disease who have low hemoglobin and few pain crises. About 105 participants aged 16-35 will take either the drug or a placebo daily for 24 weeks, while continuing their usual hydroxyurea treatment. The main goal is to see if the drug can raise hemoglobin levels by at least 1 g/dL, which could help reduce anemia and related complications.
