Massive 10,000-Person study aims to unlock secrets of sickle cell disease

Summary
This is a long-term observational study that will follow 10,000 people with sickle cell disease from birth through their entire lives. The goal is to collect detailed health information over time to understand how the disease progresses, how it damages organs, and how treatments like hydroxyurea affect long-term health. Participants will have their regular clinic visit data collected and may join a smaller study looking at how individuals process the medication hydroxyurea.
