Shock waves may ease stroke stiffness and boost walking
NCT ID NCT07523243
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a treatment called extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) can reduce leg muscle stiffness and improve walking in people who have had a stroke. About 85 adults who have had a stroke at least 3 months ago and have stiff leg muscles will be randomly assigned to get either real ESWT or a fake (sham) treatment, plus standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if ESWT helps with muscle tone, movement, and quality of life.
