Shock waves may ease stroke stiffness and boost walking

NCT ID NCT07523243

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests if a treatment called extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) can reduce muscle tightness (spasticity) in the legs of people who have had a stroke. About 85 adults who had a stroke at least 3 months ago will either get real ESWT or a fake (sham) version, plus standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if ESWT improves stiffness, walking, and quality of life.
