Ancient drumming rituals tested as modern pain relief

NCT ID NCT06579261

Summary

This study is exploring whether sessions with a shamanic practitioner using drumming music can help ease the pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia. Researchers at UC Irvine will work with 25 female participants to see if these one-on-one sessions are practical to conduct and if they lead to measurable reductions in pain. The study will also check if the sessions cause changes in heart rate, breathing, or brain waves for both the patient and the practitioner.
