Sex and sugar: new study tracks diabetes risk during intimacy

NCT ID NCT07286500

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether sexual activity increases the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin and a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). One hundred participants will mark sexual activity in their CGM app for 3 months. Researchers will compare glucose levels on days with and without sexual activity to see if there is a link.
