Doctors test lifespan of 'Toxin-Sponge' filter in deadly infections

NCT ID NCT07419802

Summary

This study aims to understand how long a special blood filter keeps working effectively in adults with septic shock, a life-threatening infection. Researchers will observe 29 patients in intensive care who are already receiving this filter as part of their standard treatment. By measuring toxin levels in the blood before and after the filter over 24 hours, they hope to find the best time to replace it for maximum benefit.
