First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study tested a program called STAR, where a nurse helps sepsis patients for up to 90 days after they leave the hospital. The nurse checks for new health problems, adjusts medicines, and watches for complications. The goal was to see if this extra support reduces deaths and return hospital visits compared to usual care. About 3,900 adults with suspected sepsis took part across eight hospitals.
