Race against time: new study tests when to add second drug for deadly sepsis

Summary
This large trial aims to find the best timing for adding a second blood pressure drug (vasopressin) to standard treatment (norepinephrine) for patients with life-threatening septic shock in intensive care. It will compare starting vasopressin early versus only using it as a rescue treatment if the first drug isn't enough. The study will enroll 2,800 critically ill adults to see which approach leads to better survival and fewer days on organ support.
