Weekly shot helps asians with obesity shed pounds in major trial

NCT ID NCT04998136

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether a weekly injection of semaglutide (2.4 mg) helps Asian adults with obesity (BMI 25 or higher) lose weight. About 150 participants received either the drug or a placebo for 44 weeks, along with diet and exercise advice. The main goal was to see how much weight they lost. The drug is meant to be taken long-term to keep weight off, so it controls the condition rather than curing it.
