Summary

This pilot study tests whether giving African American children ages 2-4 special books about self-esteem during regular doctor visits can improve their behavior and early reading skills. About 134 children and their parents will take part. The goal is to see if this simple, clinic-based approach is practical and helpful for getting kids ready for school.
