New hope for rare kidney cancer: targeted drug shows promise in Late-Stage trial

Summary

This study tests a new drug called savolitinib against a standard treatment (sunitinib) in people with a rare type of kidney cancer (papillary renal cell carcinoma) that has spread and cannot be removed by surgery. The cancer must have a specific genetic change (MET-driven). The goal is to see if savolitinib works better at stopping the cancer from growing and to check its side effects. About 60 adults are taking part in this advanced-stage trial.
